A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan, with tremors felt across North India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan on Wednesday. Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and other regions experienced the shaking, though no casualties have been reported. The earthquake marks the second tremor in two weeks for Delhi and surrounding areas.
A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan on Wednesday afternoon, with tremors felt across North India, Afghanistan, and parts of Pakistan. The earthquake occurred at 12:58 pm IST, originating 10 kilometers below the surface, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ). The National Center for Seismology confirmed the magnitude and the epicenter in Pakistan.
Residents in cities such as Islamabad, Peshawar, and Lahore reported feeling the tremors, which also impacted New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir in India. Videos shared on social media showed fans and furniture shaking briefly, and users from various regions, including Bikaner, Rajasthan, confirmed the tremors.

This marks the second instance of seismic activity in the region within two weeks. On August 29, a 5.7-magnitude earthquake originating in Afghanistan was also felt across Delhi and nearby states. Delhi, being in Seismic Zone IV, is particularly vulnerable to earthquakes, lying close to the active seismic regions near the Himalayas.
No reports of damage or casualties have been confirmed as of yet, though authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
