Police on Tuesday stated that when a 28-year-old chartered accountant was playing cricket at Cross Maidan in south Mumbai, he failed to keep an eye on his possessions and his credit and debit cards were stolen, resulting in a loss of 6.72 lakh rupees.
An Azad Maidan police station case has been registered as a result of the events of March 30, according to an official confirmation. When registering the case, the pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act were adhered to.
The person who was upset, Vivek Dave, stated that he had come to Cross Maidan to play cricket, changed into his kit, and then thrown away his possessions, which included a wallet that had credit and debit cards and a cell phone, in a bag.
After some time, when Mr. Dave was returning home by train to Borivali, he saw that his cell phone was receiving messages about bank activities. The official claimed that these signals indicated that his credit card had been used to make purchases worth more over ₹5 lakh, while little over ₹1 lakh had been withdrawn out of his bank account.
The unidentified suspect allegedly stole the complainant's credit and debit cards, went on a shopping spree at four different jewelry stores, and stole ₹1 lakh in cash from an ATM while he spent three hours playing cricket. This was mentioned in the initial information report.
The officer stated that Mr. Dave got in touch with the establishment where the accused had used his card to buy jewelry. The business owner then showed him the accused's security footage.
