After they had gone a little distance over the sea bridge, the woman began screaming at the cabbie to stop. Despite his initial hesitation, the driver eventually stopped when she persisted. Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Kote was quoted by the PTI news agency as saying that the individual "got out and jumped off the bridge."
After the driver called the Navi Mumbai Police, they promptly began a search and rescue operation with the assistance of the coastal police and locals, according to Inspector Kote.
"Suicide note" in hand, she had written that she was headed to Atal Setu to "end her life." Later that day, when he got home, he discovered this. He claimed that the woman had told her father on Monday afternoon that she intended to go outside and finish some work. However, they discovered the message when he came home.
According to the suicide note, the woman was struggling with acute depression for the eight years that had passed since she made this bold decision. After that, the father got in touch with the police to ask for help in locating his daughter.
Inspector Kote claimed to have seen the woman attempt suicide by jumping over the bridge and into the taxi, citing CCTV evidence.
