Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija is receiving rape and death threats following her remarks on comedian Samay Raina's now-deleted YouTube show India’s Got Latent. The controversy has escalated as Mukhija's close friend, content creator Rida Tharana, condemned the threats on Instagram, highlighting the dangers women face online.

Mukhija, who appeared on the same episode as Ranveer Allahbadia, has been widely criticised for her comments. The Mumbai Police recently recorded her statement along with three others as part of the ongoing investigation into the show’s content.

The controversy erupted after Allahbadia’s comments about parents and sex went viral, sparking police complaints in Mumbai and Guwahati. While he has apologised for a "lapse in judgment," the backlash continues, with Mukhija now facing intense online harassment.

In the wake of the scandal, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has removed Mukhija from its list of official ambassadors for its upcoming awards ceremony in Jaipur. Meanwhile, India’s Got Latent, which had aired 18 episodes since June 2024, was taken down by YouTube on government orders earlier this week.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, while public debate intensifies over the boundaries of free speech and online harassment.
