Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday strongly criticised Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and accused him of practising appeasement politics.

During his speech in Jodhpur, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma remarked, "Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot should stop the drama of showcasing the development and relief term to the poor and apologize."

"Look at the National crime record data, Rajasthan is beating every state and going forward in crimes against women...Rajasthan is competing for first position in crimes against women and Rajasthan and Karnataka are competing in appeasement issues", he remarked.

Rajasthan is scheduled to hold elections in November. In this electoral contest, the Congress party, led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, currently in power in the state, is set to face off against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Since 1993, both parties have been taking turns to form the government in Rajasthan in alternate terms by voting out each other in each election.
