Taliban bans women from Eid celebrations: Tracing the group's ideological roots

Atrocities under The Taliban Rule:-

According to a report by Khaama Press, the Taliban has enforced a ban on women attending Eid celebrations in 2 provinces of Afghanistan. The authorities in Baghlan and Takhar provinces have instructed women not to gather in groups during the Eid ul-Fitr period.

Earlier, reports stated that the Taliban has implemented a ban on families and women from dining in establishments that have gardens or outdoor spaces in the Herat region of Afghanistan. The reason behind this decision, as per the authorities, is to prevent "gender mingling" and the violation of strict hijab rules for women.

Furthermore, the Guardian reported that the Taliban has also prohibited the sale of contraceptives in two major cities of Afghanistan. The Taliban claims that the use of contraceptives by women is a western plot to control the Muslim population.

According to a store owner who spoke to the Guardian, armed individuals visited their store on 2 separate occasions and warned them against selling contraceptive pills. The authorities are said to be conducting regular inspections of pharmacies in Kabul, and as a result, the store owner had to stop selling the products.

This incident is the most recent example of the Taliban's assault on women's rights since they took control of Afghanistan in August 2021 following the withdrawal of US troops.

In addition to closing universities to women, the Taliban has prohibited girls from pursuing higher education and has imposed restrictions on women's employment opportunities, as well as their freedom of movement. These are just a few of the many limitations that have been placed on women by the Taliban.

The Taliban's crackdown on women's rights has caused widespread concern both within Afghanistan and internationally. Many fear that the group's return to power will undo the progress that has been made in women's rights over the past two decades. The Taliban's policies have drawn condemnation from governments, human rights organizations, and women's advocacy groups around the world.

Some women in Afghanistan have been forced to go into hiding or flee the country altogether in order to escape the Taliban's oppression. Others have chosen to stay and fight for their rights, despite the risks involved. Women's rights activists in Afghanistan and around the world have called for urgent action to protect the rights of Afghan women and to ensure that they are not left behind in the country's transition.

As the situation in Afghanistan remains uncertain, it is more important than ever to support and amplify the voices of women who are standing up for their rights. The international community must continue to pressure the Taliban to respect the human rights of all Afghans, including women, and to ensure that women are able to participate fully in the country's Social , economic, and political life.
