A pack of man-eating wolves in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, claimed the life of a 3-year-old girl in Tepra village, with two women also injured in the latest attack. Despite 'Operation Bhediya' efforts, two wolves remain at large. The authorities are using drones to track them and advise villagers to remain indoors.
A three-year-old girl died and two women were injured in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh when a pack of man-eater wolves attacked the family in Tepra village late Sunday night. This attack comes at the backdrop of increased wolf attacks in the region that has seen several villagers being killed in the last two months.
The pack of wolves that killed seven children and one woman up to date is still on the loose despite the efforts of the authorities. In the ‘Operation Bhediya,’ four wolves have been trapped but two are still on the loose. The authorities have been using drones to follow the remaining predators but they are elusive in their movements. The wolves were seen on Saturday night but they escaped before the authorities could capture them.
The chief forest conservator of the area, Renu Singh, who is supervising the operation, asked the villagers to be cautious and added that they should sleep inside their homes and travel in groups. Most of the victims were asleep outside their homes and therefore were easy prey for the wolves. Singh also said that the hunt for the rest of the wolves is still on and teams are deployed in the area day and night.
