The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed dismay over India's decision to host ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina following her dramatic departure from Dhaka on Monday. Gayeshwar Roy, a senior BNP leader and former minister, voiced concerns about India's perceived support for Hasina's return to power.

"Sheikh Hasina's liability is being borne by India," Roy told The Times of India. While emphasizing that the BNP supports mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and India, he questioned whether India should "promote one party and not the entire country."

Meanwhile, Hasina's son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, thanked the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for "protecting" his mother. Joy called on India to lead international efforts to restore democracy in Bangladesh, dismissing rumors about Hasina seeking asylum in the UK or having her US visa revoked.

As Bangladesh grapples with political turmoil, Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus was sworn in as the head of the interim government on Thursday. His primary responsibilities include restoring peace and organizing new elections following the recent upheaval that forced Hasina out of power.

In response to these developments, Prime Minister Modi congratulated Yunus and expressed hope for a swift return to normalcy in Bangladesh. Modi emphasized India's commitment to working with Bangladesh for peace, security, and development, while also calling for the protection of Hindus and other minority communities in the country.

The situation remains fluid, with uncertainty surrounding Hasina's future plans. It remains unclear whether she will seek asylum in another country, stay in India, or eventually return to Bangladesh.

As the crisis unfolds, the international community watches closely, with India playing a crucial role in the region's stability and the future of Bangladesh's political landscape.
