Jashimuddin Rahmani, leader of the Islamist group Ansarullah Bangla Team, recently called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to declare the state's independence from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rule. Rahmani, whose group is linked to al-Qaeda, made the provocative statement in a viral video following his release by Bangladesh's interim government.

Rahmani’s remarks, which surfaced from a hospital setting, also included appeals for support from Pakistan and Afghanistan to aid Jammu and Kashmir's "independence." He further issued warnings, claiming that Bangladesh would retaliate if threatened by India or its allies, vowing that the "flags of Tawhid" would one day fly over Delhi.

The extremist leader, arrested in 2013 for inciting the murder of an atheist blogger, has reignited concerns with these inflammatory messages. His call to arms included encouraging Khalistani Sikhs to fight for independence, aiming to destabilize various Indian regions. While Bangladesh's government distanced itself from Rahmani's views, the video has sparked widespread attention.
