A female home guard posted at Bellandur police station in Bengaluru is under investigation for allegedly helping a molestation accused evade arrest, according to a report by The Times of India. The incident came to light after CCTV footage of a woman being assaulted in Suddaguntepalya, near BTM Layout, surfaced and went viral online.

The assault took place around 1:55 am on April 3, showing a man trailing two women before forcibly grabbing one of them. The accused, identified as 29-year-old Santosh Daniel, fled when the victim raised an alarm. He was later tracked and arrested in Kerala on April 13 after police combed through footage from nearly 700 CCTV cameras across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

The investigation has now expanded after officials found that a female home guard, a long-time friend of Santosh and a single mother in her 30s, allegedly played a role in his escape. She reportedly recognised Santosh in news broadcasts and warned him. Authorities claim she advised him to destroy his mobile phone, provided a new SIM card registered in her name, and gave him ₹10,000 in cash.

The duo allegedly fled to Kerala together soon after. The woman has not been arrested but is currently being questioned by police. She maintains that she acted out of belief in Santosh’s innocence.

Santosh, a driver at a Jaguar showroom in Bengaluru, is facing charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including sections related to sexual harassment, assault with intent to outrage a woman's modesty, and stalking. He is presently in police custody as the probe into both the assault and the attempt to obstruct justice continues.
