The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks regarding the Election Commission after Congress’s disappointing performance in the recent Haryana assembly elections. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala labeled Gandhi an “immature leader,” arguing that his comments reflect his inability to accept electoral defeat.

Poonawala contended that Gandhi’s questioning of the Election Commission and the broader electoral process stems from the Congress party's loss, stating, “When Rahul wins in Jammu and Kashmir, the constitution is fine. But after losing in Haryana, he believes the entire system is under threat.” Poonawala also emphasized that other Congress leaders, including Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja, accepted the election results with grace, implying that Gandhi’s approach was out of line.

In response to the election outcomes, which saw the BJP secure 48 of the 90 assembly seats, Gandhi expressed his commitment to analyzing the results and addressing complaints received from various constituencies. He acknowledged the support from voters in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir and vowed to communicate with the Election Commission regarding the issues raised by constituents.

Despite Gandhi's attempts to address the unexpected election results, Poonawala maintained that Gandhi's familial ties and perceived entitlement hinder his leadership. The BJP's decisive victory in Haryana has solidified its position, marking a significant setback for the Congress party as it struggles to regain ground in the state.
