BJP Leader Raman Singh Hails Women’s Reservation Bill

Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh, on Wednesday lauded the Narendra Modi government's introduction of the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha.
The former chief minister of Chhattisgarh highlighted it as a significant moment in India's parliamentary history.
Furthermore, he stated that the initiative to provide reservations for women in both the Lok Sabha and state Assemblies would not only empower women but also play a vital role in fostering the growth and progress of our country.
Singh remarked, "The introduction of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha has become one of the milestones in the parliamentary history of our country."
He further added, "This will also help in the overall development of our country. A consensus has been reached on this (Women’s Reservation Bill)."
During the first session held in the newly inaugurated Parliament building on Tuesday, Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the Bill, which has been titled "Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam," in the Lok Sabha.
While presenting the Bill in the House, the minister stated, "This bill is in relation to women empowerment. By amending Article 239AA of the Constitution, 33 per cent of seats will be reserved for women in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. Article 330A reservations of seats for SC/ST in the House of People."
He further mentioned that upon the passage of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the number of seats allocated for women in the Lok Sabha will rise to a total of 181.
The Bill is slated for implementation in 2026, following the completion of the delimitation exercise.
