The BJP will finalise Delhi’s next Chief Minister in a legislative meeting on Monday. After winning 48 out of 70 seats, the party ousted AAP from power. Frontrunners for the CM post include Parvesh Verma, Vijender Gupta, and Satish Upadhyay, though a surprise candidate may also emerge.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to finalise its choice for Delhi’s next Chief Minister during a legislative party meeting scheduled for Monday at 3 PM. The meeting will bring together all 48 newly elected BJP MLAs at the party’s state office.
The BJP secured a decisive victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats and ending the decade-long rule of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The election results, declared on February 8, saw AAP reduced to 22 seats, with several senior leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, losing their constituencies.
Party sources indicate that the selection process will involve discussions with the MLAs, and the BJP’s central leadership will play a key role in the final decision. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return from a foreign visit is expected to accelerate the decision-making process.
Among the frontrunners for the Chief Minister’s post are Parvesh Verma, who defeated Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, and former Delhi BJP presidents Vijender Gupta and Satish Upadhyay. However, party insiders suggest that a fresh face could also be considered.

The BJP is appointing observers to facilitate discussions and ensure a smooth transition. The new Chief Minister will face high expectations, given the party’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years.
