Following the release of the official statement by the National Statistical Office, which indicated a Surge of 7.2% in India's annual economic growth rate, the BJP took a dig at Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, and Raghuram Rajan, the former governor of the Reserve Bank of India.

Amit Malviya, the national convener of BJP's IT cell, took to Twitter to share an old video of the ex-RBI governor stating, "India would be lucky to do 5% growth next year." Malviya remarked, “Raghuram Rajan in this dated conversation (2022) with Rahul Gandhi, sounded less like an economist, and more like Rajdeep Sardesai." He further highlighted that India had achieved a 7.2% GDP growth in FY2022-23.

Malviya referred to Congress apologists as "filth-seeking flies", remarking, “Give them a clean room and they will look for that tiny spec of dirt and scream blue murder. Put them in stinking filth (reminiscent of the UPA era), and they wallow, in pleasure.”

Malviya also accused them of being sadists who desire the suffering of a billion people in order to indulge in discussions about "povertarianism while enjoying their exquisite wine". Following suit, Rajya Sabha MP Mahesh Jethmalani also tweeted “Raghuram Rajan, the UPA’s economic spin doctor & high priest of gloom and doom for India. Mercifully he never gets it right!”

During a press conference, Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP leader and former Union minister, mentioned that Rahul Gandhi's real intentions are hiding under the guise of spreading the message of love in the midst of alleged hatred. His actual priority is to propagate hate against development in the country that is taking place under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prasad further criticized Gandhi, stating that the GDP figure has exposed the falsity propagated by Gandhi, calling it their "market of hate."
