This is a shocking hit-and-run incident involving the daughter of a YSR Congress party Rajya Sabha member Beeda Masthan Rao, Madhuri driving a BMW car had allegedly hit a 24-year-old painter who was sleeping on the pavement in Chennai on Monday night. The victim, who was identified as Surya, succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the ordeal, while Madhuri secured a bail soon after her arrest.

The attack happened early Tuesday morning at around midnight in the affluent part of Chennai known as Besant Nagar. Associate with Police, According to the police accounts, Madhuri was driving the luxury car with another female friend when she hit Surya who was lying on the pavement in a drunken state. Whereas Madhuri ran away after the incident, her friend at first confronted the others with words and then left the scene as well.

People quickly carried Surya, a new husband for only 8 months to the hospital but unfortunately, he died from the serious injuries he sustained. People from Surya’s family and other members of J-5 Shastri Nagar colony thrashed the miscreants and rushed to a nearby police station demanding action against the culprits.

Police followed the trails of CCTV footage and found that the said vehicle, BMW, belonged to Madhuri, the daughter of Beeda Masthan Rao who is a businessman and the owner of the BMR Group – a leading seafood company. He is a first-time Rajya Sabha member who was elected in the 2022 while being an MLA before.

While Madhuri was arrested for reckless driving and culpable homicide, she got bail from the police station itself, which again raised questions over the nature of how the elite can continue their murderous acts with impunity.

This shameful act has caused a wide outrage especially when similar incident was recently recorded in the hit-and-run case whereby a young man, a businessman’s son from Pune knocked down a toll booth worker with his Porsche car and then escaped. Opponents argue that the series of accidents reveal the fact that the Indian upper echelon is immune to prosecution.
