Car fell into Jammu-Srinagar highway valley: 10 dead

Ten people were killed after an SUV skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and fell into a gorge in Ramban district.

According to the Press Trust of India (PTI), ten persons were killed after a passenger taxi collided with a canyon on Friday morning while it was traveling between Jammu and Srinagar at Battery Chashma in the Ramban area. According to the officials, the event occurred at approximately 1.15 in the morning while the vehicle was traveling from Srinagar to Jammu. As soon as they learned of the accident, members of the civil Quick Response Team (QRT), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Ramban Local Police Department all dispatched personnel to the location in preparation for a rescue operation.

Despite the torrential rain, every deceased person has been identified and removed. Two individuals that perished were Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang, a resident of West Champaran in Bihar, and Balwan Singh, a 47-year-old inhabitant of AmbGhrotha in Jammu.
