The latest phase of India's lunar exploration mission, Chandrayaan-3, reached an exciting milestone as its lander Vikram shared breathtaking images of the moon after successfully completing a strategic maneuver.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) unveiled the stunning images captured by the Lander Imager (LI) Camera-1 on its official Twitter account, X. The image montage showcases various moon craters, including the striking Giordano Bruno crater, one of the moon's youngest large craters.

The LI Camera-1 also captured images of the Harkhebit J crater, boasting a diameter of approximately 43 kilometers. These images were taken shortly after the lander's successful detachment from the spacecraft's propulsion.

ISRO shared a light-hearted tweet imagining a conversation between the lander module and the spacecraft, stating, "Thanks for the ride, mate." The lander module is set to descend to a lower orbit through a deboosting process, bringing it closer to the moon's surface. In this orbital arrangement, the closest point to the moon (Perilune) is 30 kilometers, while the farthest point (Apolune) is 100 kilometers.

The "soft landing" attempt by the Chandrayaan-3 lander in the south polar area of the moon is slated for August 23 and represents a pivotal stage of the project. At the same time, the propulsion module will keep circling the moon and collecting information about exoplanets that might be habitable.

'Pragyaan' rover will make its way down from the Vikram Lander.

After the lander has safely touched down, the 'Pragyaan' rover will make its way down from the Vikram Lander. As the two modules cooperate in their exploration, they will take pictures of each other.

Post-moon landing, the rover will embark on a mission to collect vital data on the moon's surface composition and geology. This critical information will contribute to comprehensive research, shedding light on the moon's history and its potential significance for future space exploration endeavors. The Chandrayaan-3 mission represents a significant stride in India's space ambitions and exploration achievements.
