Sports world daily: Real Madrid, AC Milan through to Champions League semis

Chelsea's Finishing Woes Continue:-

Real Madrid registered another two-goal win over Chelsea in the second leg of the Quarterfinal, enough for the Spanish Supergiants to book their slot in the UCL Semifinals to be held in May.

On the other hand, a draw with Napoli proved enough for the Serie A defending champions AC Milan, who passed on to the next stage with an aggregate score of 2-1 in their favor.

Chelsea started the reverse fixture on a strong note, with the fans never failing to cheer the home team at Stamford Bridge. The Blues showed character right from the start by maintaining high-intensity pressures and keeping the veterans from the opposition quiet.

It was, however, the lack of finishing that led to the team's downfall. The problem isn't something new, though, as it has been prevalent since the start of the season. With more than $600 million spent on the transfer windows, the failure to sign a proper number 9 haunted the team in the form of a Champions League exit and mid-table finish in the Premier League.

On the flip side, the 14-time Champions League winner Real Madrid faced difficulty in progressing the ball to the opponent's half. The star-studded lineup of Modric, Kroos, Benzema, and Vinicius, to name a few, had a dry run in the first half.

However, second-half heroics from the Brazilian wonder-kid Rodrygo sealed the deal for the record winners. He scored a brace as Real Madrid eased past Chelsea and set a foot closer to winning the title for the 15th time.

AC Milan put away Napoli, rejoin Europe’s elite in Champions League semifinals

The other Quarterfinal held between Italian rivals AC Milan and Napoli saw the Men in Red and Black progressing toward the semifinals for the first time in 16 years. They last reached the UCL semis in 2007, as they won the title by defeating Liverpool in the final.

A goal from Oliver Giroud, the veteran French striker, in the first half, proved enough for AC Milan to get past the current Serie A leaders Napoli.

Napoli and Osimhen, in particular, failed to live up to the hype and succumbed to a third successive defeat to the red side of Milan in a span of 20 days.

AC Milan awaits their city rivals Inter Milan or Benfica, which will be decided today. On the other side, Real Madrid, brimming with confidence, will face either the cunning and destructive Pep Guardiola or the newly appointed Thomas Tuchel in the semis. Whatever the results are, the road from now will endure new adventures for every Football lover worldwide!
