China confirmed troop disengagement at four locations along the India-China border, including Galwan Valley, following discussions between Ajit Doval and Wang Yi in Russia. This announcement follows Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar's statement that 75% of disengagement issues have been resolved, although concerns over militarization remain.
China has announced the disengagement of troops from four friction points in eastern Ladakh, including the Galwan Valley, indicating a generally stable and controlled border situation with India. This statement followed discussions between India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in St. Petersburg, Russia, on September 12, 2024.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to create conditions to improve bilateral relations and enhance mutual trust. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized that China and India are working together to further disengage their frontline troops and resolve remaining issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
This development comes after Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, during a Geneva think-tank session, said that around 75% of the disengagement issues with China have been resolved. However, he acknowledged that ongoing concerns, particularly related to the militarization of the border, still need addressing.
