Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has termed the recent Nagpur violence as deliberately orchestrated. The clashes injured 33 police officers and five civilians, with curfew now imposed. Authorities blamed the provocative depiction of Aurangzeb in the film "Chhaava," urging peace and promising strict action against those responsible for the unrest.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has described the recent communal violence in Nagpur as a carefully orchestrated event aimed at disrupting communal harmony. Speaking in the legislative assembly, Fadnavis revealed that the mob, which included individuals armed with weapons and a trolley loaded with stones, appeared prepared and intentionally targeted specific locations and residences in central Nagpur.

The violent clashes resulted in injuries to at least 33 police personnel, among them three Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs). One senior official sustained severe injuries after being attacked with an axe. Additionally, five civilians were hurt during the unrest, with one currently admitted to intensive care. Fadnavis vowed firm action against those responsible, emphasizing that justice would be pursued irrespective of religious affiliations or identities.

The violence is believed to have stemmed from heightened emotions surrounding historical figures, particularly Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, amplified by the recently released film "Chhaava." Fadnavis acknowledged that the film might have intensified public sentiments but urged citizens to maintain peace and respect law and order. Curfew restrictions are now in effect in several parts of the city, and additional police forces have been deployed to restore normalcy.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde echoed concerns about the incident being possibly premeditated and called for calm. Shinde condemned the violent tactics, including the reported use of petrol bombs, and pledged stringent measures against perpetrators. Authorities continue investigations into the origins and instigators behind the violence, promising transparency and swift legal action against all involved parties.
