Sorrows are high in Israel and the occupied West Bank since various groups of activists embarking on more provocative stunts over convoys of aid to Gaza

Some right-wing Israelis and Jewish settlers from the occupied West Bank have embarked on a mission of trying to prevent supply lorries with humanitarian aid and other products from accessing Gaza. Recently, it has become quite common to watch videos on social networks where these groups block the delivery of food, throw food packages to the ground, or even burn the vehicles that deliver it.

In a video, one activist says, “It is about time we halted the aid”. That is the only way they will win, the only way they will get their hostages back” The activists believe that any support towards Gaza only fuels the violence when there are Israeli hostages trapped in Gaza.

However, there is a group of protestors who have come together to try to defend the humanitarian supplies. Such organizations as Standing Together have started tracking these right-wing activists on social media and joining protest demonstrations at strategic points where trucks transport goods into Israel from the West Bank on their way to Gaza.

“Israeli society should declare clearly that we are against such actions,” said Suf Patishi, the founder of Standing Together, an organization that supports women in the military. ‘Was it too much to ask not to die of hunger?”

These riots have led to confrontations and debates between the two groups of activists, with occasional scuffles, Israeli police presence, and criticism that they are not acting as effectively as they should to enforce the law. Lorry drivers in Palestine say that they are traumatized by the incidents.

While the conflict in Gaza continues, the struggle for humanitarian aid becomes another front of the conflict and thus is likely to only increase violence in the region. They both remain steadfast in their stances regarding the issue of continuing to provide aid to the besieged area.
