Following the Congress party's disappointing performance in the Haryana assembly elections, senior leader DK Suresh attributed the loss to the party's "overconfidence." The BJP secured 48 out of 90 seats, while Congress managed to win 37, failing to regain its foothold in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Suresh, who is the brother of Karnataka's deputy CM DK Shivakumar, emphasized that the election results are a significant setback for the party. He stated, “We believed we would come back and that has been our major disadvantage.” He assured that the Congress high command would thoroughly investigate the reasons behind the defeat and assess any lapses during the election process.

Suresh’s remarks reflect a broader sentiment within the party, as Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also described the results as "unexpected" and promised a detailed response after consultations with party workers on the ground. Kharge highlighted the importance of gathering public opinion to understand the underlying issues that contributed to the party's loss.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi acknowledged the election outcome, thanking voters in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. He indicated that the party would address complaints of irregularities from various constituencies and engage with the Election Commission.
