The Himachal Pradesh Congress has challenged BJP MP Kangana Ranaut to prove her claims that state loans were misappropriated to benefit Sonia Gandhi or face a defamation suit. Minister Vikramaditya Singh condemned Ranaut's statements as foolish and baseless, asserting that they reflect her frustration over her film's release issues.

The Himachal Pradesh Congress party has issued a strong challenge to BJP MP Kangana Ranaut, demanding she provide evidence for her recent allegations against Sonia Gandhi or face legal consequences. This follows Ranaut’s assertion that the Congress-ruled Himachal government has diverted state loans to Gandhi instead of utilizing them for public welfare.

During a press conference, Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh criticized Ranaut's remarks as indicative of her "intellectual bankruptcy." He stated, “There cannot be a bigger foolish statement than saying that funds for development are being given to Sonia Gandhi.” Singh openly challenged Ranaut to present proof of her claims, specifically demanding evidence of even ₹1 being misappropriated, or to apologize for her “baseless” accusations.

Ranaut made these controversial claims during a public gathering in Manali, alleging that disaster funds meant for the state's relief efforts were being misdirected to Sonia Gandhi’s relief fund. She stated, “They take loans and give it to Sonia Gandhi, which has made the state's coffers hollow.”

In response, Singh suggested that Ranaut's frustration over her film "Emergency" being delayed by the censor board might have prompted her to make such unsubstantiated comments. He pointed out that her infrequent visits to Himachal Pradesh contribute to her misunderstanding of the local political landscape.
