Modi emphasized his life mantra of integrity and idealism in politics. The Congress accused him of inconsistency, adding fuel to pre-election political debates.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Friday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comments on a podcast hosted by Nikhil Kamath, claiming they were an attempt at "damage control." Modi, in his first podcast appearance, stated, “I am human and can make mistakes, but I will not act out of bad intentions.” Ramesh alleged the statement was a response to Modi's earlier self-description as “non-biological,” made during an interview ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Ramesh wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “This from a man who proclaimed his non-biological status just eight months back. This is clearly damage control.” He referred to Modi’s previous assertion that his energy and purpose were divinely bestowed after his mother’s passing, contrasting it with his latest declaration of being human and fallible.

In the podcast, Modi emphasized his dedication to hard work and integrity, describing these principles as his life mantra. He acknowledged the inevitability of human error but reiterated his commitment to act without malice. The prime minister also spoke about the significance of idealism in politics, suggesting that while ideologies guide politicians, idealism leads to meaningful impact. He cited Mahatma Gandhi and VR Savarkar as examples of differing ideologies united by a shared vision of freedom.

The Congress has used Modi’s comments to question his consistency and authenticity. This exchange adds to the ongoing political discourse as leaders position themselves ahead of upcoming elections.
