The bottom-placed team, with a commendable all-round performance, survived past Mohammed Shami's scything four-wicket haul to defend their total of 130 runs against a side that rarely loses in run-chases. It was only the second loss for Gujarat Titans in 14 run-chases this season, highlighting the vast gap between the sides.

Mohammed Shami decimates Delhi Capitals' top order with a scorching four-wicket haul in a fiery opening spell!

Shami was unstoppable with the new ball, bowling four overs for figures of 4 for 11. He struck with the very first ball of the match, getting Phil Salt caught at cover. Shami bowled unchanged from one end and utilized the little juice in the pitch to devastating effect, leaving DC gasping for breath. Rilee Rossouw, Manish Pandey, and Priyam Garg followed Salt back to the pavilion, all caught behind by Wriddhiman Saha, who had yet another fantastic day behind the stumps. The top-order collapse had DC reeling at 23 for 5 after the powerplay.

Aman Khan's maiden IPL fifty rescues Delhi Capitals from the brink of collapse in a high-pressure encounter.

Aman Khan struck his maiden IPL fifty and helped DC recover from a helpless position with important fifty-run stands with Axar Patel and Ripal Patel. Noor Ahmad and Rashid Khan were tight in the middle overs, but Aman picked 41 runs off Mohit Sharma and Joshua Little from overs 16-18, delivering DC to a total worth fighting for.

DC's Ishant Sharma produces knuckleball magic against Gujarat Titans

Delhi Capitals returned in kind with the ball, with Khaleel Ahmed getting Saha caught behind in the first over and Anrich Nortje drawing Shubman Gill into playing away from the body. Ishant Sharma bowled Vijay Shankar with a knuckleball, which Dale Steyn described as the "best knuckleball wicket" on Twitter. Although Hardik Pandya tried to stabilize the innings with a half-century, it was not enough as Gujarat Titans had left themselves with too much to do.

Gujarat Titans crumble under Kuldeep Yadav's spin and Axar Patel's accuracy

Kuldeep Yadav's slow and loopy bowling got immediate dividends as David Miller lost his stumps attempting a ramp shot off the third ball he faced. Kuldeep finished with figures of 1 for 15, aided by the pressure built by Axar Patel at the other end. From overs 7 to 15, Gujarat Titans scored only 48 runs and hit just one boundary, which came back to haunt them in the last five overs.

Ishant Sharma thwarts Tewatia's late charge as DC edge past Gujarat Titans

In a nail-biting finish, Rahul Tewatia nearly pulled off another miracle finish. He struck three consecutive sixes off Anrich Nortje in the penultimate over, reducing the target down to 12 runs off the final over. However, Ishant Sharma, who was entrusted with the responsibility, denied Tewatia another six and sealed the victory for Delhi Capitals.

Unpredictable IPL 2023: Bottom-placed Delhi Capitals stun table-toppers Gujarat Titans with an all-round performance

This win was a much-needed boost for the Delhi Capitals, who are at the bottom of the table. With this upset win, they have shown that they have the ability to compete against the top teams in the tournament . Although the standings did not change after the result, the match was a testament to the unpredictable nature of the IPL and the importance of teamwork in achieving success. Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, will have to reassess their strategy while chasing a total and come up with a better plan to maintain their position at the top of the table.
