Death Toll in Pakistan Suicide at Islamic Party, JUI-F Convention Reaches 44

At around 4pm on Sunday, 30th July, 2023, a suicide blast occurred in the Khar tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Bajaur, Pakistan. The death toll has reached 44 with more than 200 injured. The blast targeted Jamiat Ulema-e- Islam Fazl (JUI-F) workers convention. According to Geo News, the incident took place while the leader of the party was addressing the convention.
After the explosion, rescue teams and police swiftly arrived at the scene to transport the wounded individuals to a nearby hospital. Following the blast, authorities discovered that approximately 400 people were present at the JUI-F workers convention near the NADRA headquarters in Shanday Morr. The incident resulted in the tragic deaths of JUI-F members Hamidullah and Khar Ameer Maulana Ziaullah Jan.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akhtar Hayat Khan stated that the explosion was a suicide attack, involving 10 kg of explosives. He further mentioned that investigation teams are currently gathering evidence at the blast site. Additionally, the district emergency officer reported that the injured individuals are being transported to Timergara and Peshawar, as per Geo News.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister's Office disclosed that PM Shehbaz has directed authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident and ascertain the perpetrators responsible for the attack.
Currently, CMH Peshawar is on high alert with ongoing rescue efforts by security forces and law enforcement.
JUI-F's Fazl demands a thorough investigation. Punjab Caretaker CM Naqvi strongly condemns the attack, questioning the humanity of those who endanger innocent lives. Jamaat-e-Islami's Haq denounces the blast, viewing it as an attempt to spread chaos, and calls for a swift government investigation.
As of now, no one has claimed responsibility for the suicide blast.
