Little India:-

It is not a surprise anymore that many Indians prefer shifting to Australia given the ample job opportunities and standard of living in the continent. The mutual popularity of the two nations within each other has led to a beautiful result— ‘Little India’ in Australia!

Sanjay Deshwal, the President of Little India Harris Park Business Association in Australia informed that the first ever idea of naming a part of a little town of Australia as “Little India” emanated in 2015.

PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to India and Revival of the Demands for “Little India”

It is expected that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Australia in May 2023. Given the global popularity of PM Narendra Modi, the Indian crowd in Australia too has expressed its excitement through multiple ways. Australians too have joined in their support. The demands for renaming a street which hosts a bunch of restaurants serving delicious food have resurfaced in huge magnitude.

The Sense of Brotherhood

Paul Noack who led the motion for renaming the street as “Little India” said, “We want to make it an international destination on the same lines as Little India in Singapore and other places around the world. It puts us on the map.” Another beautiful thought put across by Mr. Deshwal was, “The area was crucial to helping students and workers settle into their new home country. It is an important step to provide those people with a feeling of home.” Such statements purely reflect the sense of brotherhood that exists between the Indian and Australian communities cohabiting in Australia under the diplomatic leadership of Narendra Modi.
