Donald Trump, Former US President Accused by Grand Jury for Attempt of Manipulating The 2020 Elections

According to The
Hill, former President Donald Trump was charged on Wednesday (local time) for
attempting to rig the US Presidential election of 2020, which led to the attack
on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Following the
filing of charges, the indictment was announced after Trump claimed to have
received a target letter notifying him that he was the subject of the
investigation.
Trump was accused
of conspiring to defraud the United States, conspiring to impede an official
proceeding, obstructing and attempting to hinder an official proceeding, as
well as conspiring against rights as part of special counsel Jack Smith's
probe, according to a CNN report.
Trump will appear
in federal court in Washington, D.C. for the first time on Thursday, according
to court documents.
The Hill said
that a federal grand jury that usually meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays in
Washington, D.C., has been notably hearing testimony in the case during those
times.
US District Judge
Tanya Chutkan has been given responsibility for Trump's case, according to the
docket of the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
Donald Trump had
stated that he anticipated being charged "anytime" today as part of
the investigation into his actions during the 2020 presidential election being
conducted by special counsel Jack Smith.
