A type of bacteria is highly resistant to drugs that have been found in eye drops and imported from India and have caused infections for a long term in a care center in Connecticut. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is more concerned about the strain that spread the healthcare facilities in the US. it is previously detected in the US and is difficult to treat the antibodies. Also, the outbreak lead to three deaths and eight cases of blindness, with dozens of infections that prompted a call for the product.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) overseeing over-the-counter medicine has stopped importing the products and confirmed that it had not inspected the factory with the eye drops made in India before the infections were reported. This is something the agency that has visited the plant and has operated by Global Pharma Healthcare. The FDA has been criticized for its lapses that inspecting manufacturing in countries like China and India which are the two major producers of drugs and raw ingredients for medicines. Also, other contaminated products from overseas include blood pressure medications suspected of containing a possible carcinogen and deadly batches of Heparin that prompted mass recalls.


These bacteria are linked to eye drops and are more resistant to similar bacteria that the CDC typically sees in 150 cases per year, in intensive care settings. Also, these bacteria spread from person to person and tend to occur patients touch common items or when healthcare workers transfer the germs. This bacterium, drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a top concern for healthcare providers. The FDA is working with the CDC and has urged retailers to Remove from the shelves.
