Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 15 said that every Indian sees the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a true friend. 


He said this while meeting UAE president Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. 


“I am happy to be in Abu Dhabi and to meet you. I thank you for the warm welcome... Every Indian sees you as a true friend”, PM Modi told the UAE president.

Modi also held a significant meeting with Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), during his visit to Abu Dhabi on Saturday. 


Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the Prime Minister praised Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a cherished friend of India.


The Prime Minister highlighted the remarkable growth in bilateral trade between the two nations, with a 20% increase resulting in a substantial trade volume of $85 billion. He expressed confidence in the imminent achievement of the $100 billion target. Modi attributed the success of the historic agreements signed between India and the UAE to the cooperative spirit and unwavering commitment of the UAE president.

During his visit, the Prime Minister participated in a ceremonial welcome at the presidential palace, Qasr-Al-Watan, where he expressed gratitude for the warm reception and drew parallels between the relationship of the two nations to that of brothers.


Moreover, Modi revealed his intention to attend the forthcoming COP-28 Summit in the UAE, affirming India’s support for the Middle East nation’s presidency.


In the presence of both leaders, officials from India and the UAE exchanged several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening their partnership. Notably, an agreement was reached on trade settlement in the currencies of both countries, underscoring the robust economic cooperation and mutual trust between India and the UAE.


Prior to the meeting with Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Modi held discussions with Sultan Al Jaber, the president-designate of the UN climate conference (COP-28). Jaber provided a comprehensive briefing on the upcoming event, and Prime Minister Modi assured him of India’s unwavering support for the Middle East nation’s COP-28 presidency.


These meetings and the exchange of agreements between India and the UAE signify the deep-rooted diplomatic ties and collaborative endeavors to enhance economic cooperation and address the pressing issue of climate change.
