Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's movie "Fighter" faces legal trouble as Wing Commander Saumya Deep Das serves a notice for depicting a kissing scene in Indian Air Force uniform, claiming it tarnishes the dignity of the uniform and sets a wrong precedent. The movie has already stirred controversies in the Middle East and underwent changes before release.

In
a recent development, the film "Fighter," starring Hrithik
Roshan and Deepika Padukone, finds itself embroiled in a legal dispute over
a scene featuring a kiss while wearing Indian Air Force (IAF) uniforms. Despite
its successful box office performance since its January 25, 2024 release,
grossing over Rs 300 crore globally, the film now faces legal ramifications.
Wing
Commander Saumya Deep Das, an officer in the Indian Air Force, has sent a legal
notice to the team behind "Fighter." The notice, titled "Legal
Notice for Defamation, Insult and Negative Impact of Indian Air Force and its
Officers," emphasizes the symbolic significance of the IAF uniform,
representing duty, national security, and selfless service.
The
notice contends that by depicting a romantic scene in the uniform, the film
undermines the uniform's dignity and disregards the sacrifices of IAF officers.
It further criticizes the normalization of inappropriate behaviour in uniform,
stating that it sets a detrimental precedent for those entrusted with national
defence.
Specifically addressing the kissing scene, the notice highlights its portrayal as romantic despite being considered inappropriate and unbecoming of an IAF officer, especially within a technical area like a runway.

This
legal notice is not the first controversy surrounding "Fighter."
Previously, the movie faced bans in Middle Eastern countries, except the UAE,
for allegedly portraying specific religious groups negatively. Additionally,
the censor board recommended alterations before its release, leading to the
removal of several scenes, including the popular song "Ishq Jaisa
Kuch."
Despite the film's star-studded cast, featuring not only Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone but also Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Sanjeeda Sheikh, its journey to the silver screen has been marred by controversy and legal challenges.
