A shooting at Campus Risbergska, an adult education centre in Orebro, Sweden, left five people injured on Tuesday, prompting a swift response from emergency services. The incident, which occurred approximately 200 kilometers west of Stockholm, led to the evacuation of parts of the school while students were sheltered in nearby buildings for safety.

Police have not confirmed whether a suspect has been apprehended, and the extent of the victims' injuries remains unclear. Swedish authorities classified the incident as an attempted murder, arson, and aggravated weapons offence, urging the public to avoid the area as investigations continue.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer described the situation as “very serious” and assured that the government is closely monitoring developments in coordination with law enforcement.

Local hospitals, including Orebro University Hospital, cleared emergency and intensive care units in anticipation of treating victims. Four individuals have been admitted, though their conditions have not been disclosed.

While school shootings are rare in Sweden, there have been previous violent incidents. In 2022, an 18-year-old fatally stabbed two teachers in Malmo, and earlier that year, a 16-year-old injured a student and a teacher in Kristianstad.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the attack and assess any ongoing threats. Emergency personnel remain on-site as security measures are reinforced to ensure the safety of students and staff.
