G20 Adopts New Delhi Leadership Declaration

The G20 leaders gathered in New Delhi have officially embraced the New Delhi Leadership Declaration, demonstrating unity and commitment to global progress, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.

Modi made the joyful announcement during the second session of the summit, attributing the achievement to relentless teamwork and cooperation.

"Thanks to our collective efforts, we've achieved consensus on the New Delhi G20 Leaders Summit Declaration," said Prime Minister Modi, who proposed and subsequently declared the adoption of the declaration after securing members' approval.

Amitabh Kant, India's G20 Sherpa, expressed his elation on social media, declaring, "The #NewDelhiLeadersDeclaration has been officially adopted at the #G20India Leader's Summit!" He described this era as the "golden age of human-centric globalization" and commended PM Modi's leadership.

The New Delhi Declaration prioritizes several key objectives, including strong, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive global growth. It also places a strong emphasis on accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and a green development pact to secure a sustainable future.

Furthermore, the declaration underscores the need for modernizing multilateral institutions to meet the challenges of the 21st century and revitalizing multilateralism.

Kant emphasized that the declaration achieved a remarkable 100% consensus on all developmental and geopolitical issues. He described it as a "powerful call for planet, people, peace, and prosperity" in today's world, highlighting PM Modi's exceptional leadership.

Notably, this G20 session has proven to be the "most ambitious" to date, resulting in 112 outcomes and presidency documents, more than tripling the substantive work compared to previous presidencies. The commitment displayed at this summit signals a unified approach to address global challenges and steer the world towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
