President Joe Biden left the United States to go to India for the G20 Summit. He flew from Andrew's air base on a special plane called Air Force 1. The G20 Summit will happen on September 9 and 10 in New Delhi at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre.
Starting on Friday, President Biden has a very busy schedule for three days.
First, he'll stop in Germany briefly on his way from the US and then arrive in New Delhi on the same day. In New Delhi, he's planned to have a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day.
On Saturday, there will be an official welcome and handshake with Prime Minister Modi, followed by President Biden joining the G20 Leaders' Summit Session 1, which is called "One Earth." In the afternoon, he's set to be a part of the G20 Leaders' Summit Session 2, called "One Family."
Additionally, President Biden will be involved in an event about global infrastructure and investments. His day will end with a dinner and a cultural program alongside other G20 Leaders.
On Sunday, President Biden, along with other G20 Leaders, will visit the Raj Ghat Memorial.
Afterward, he'll leave New Delhi and head to Hanoi, Vietnam.
India and the US already had a strong relationship, but after Prime Minister Modi's visit to Washington, their ties became even stronger.
Because India is leading the G20 meetings, the US is dedicated to helping make this leadership successful. A White House official confirmed on Wednesday that the United States is committed to ensuring that India has a successful G20 presidency this year.
