G7 Urges China to Convince Russia

During a meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, the Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers released a unified statement calling on China to apply its influence on Russia to end its aggression in Ukraine. The statement, delivered by Japan, the current G7 chair, expressed the hope that China would advocate for the prompt, complete, and unconditional withdrawal of Russian soldiers from Ukraine.

China's top diplomat, Wang Yi, was in Russia on a four-day visit, where both nations were anticipated to enhance political ties, with a prospective visit by President Vladimir Putin to Beijing in the works.
