Bengaluru continues to struggle with persistent rainfall, leading to widespread waterlogging, disrupted transportation, and inconveniences for residents. The incessant rains, which began earlier this week, have prompted the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to dispatch personnel to clear stagnant water and manage vehicular congestion. Several areas remain flooded, with disaster response teams deployed to address the emergency.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, D K Shivakumar, assured the public that the government has the capacity to manage the situation. Many schools in Bengaluru Urban district were shut down, while several IT and biotech companies allowed employees to work from home. Inundated roads inside tech hubs like Manyata Tech Park further aggravated the city’s woes, with videos of cascading rainwater going viral on social media.

Additionally, the South Western Railway canceled multiple trains on Wednesday due to waterlogged tracks, adding to the transportation challenges. Even Bengaluru Metro services on the purple line experienced temporary disruptions due to fallen trees, but were quickly restored by maintenance teams.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued heavy rainfall across Bengaluru and nearby districts until October 18, with overcast conditions expected to persist for the next few days. Despite efforts to mitigate the situation, the city remains on high alert as the rains show no signs of abating.
