After orchestrating her husband Raja Raghuvanshi's murder in Meghalaya, Sonam Raghuvanshi fled to Indore by train via Guwahati. She stayed with co-conspirator Raj Kushwaha before heading to Uttar Pradesh, where she was arrested. Police believe the escape was well-coordinated, and all suspects are now in custody for further investigation.

The mystery surrounding the murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi has unraveled further, as police trace how his wife and alleged mastermind, Sonam Raghuvanshi, escaped from Meghalaya after the crime. According to investigators, Sonam fled the murder site on May 23, driving from Shillong to Guwahati before boarding a train back to Indore, where she arrived by May 27.
Police say Raja was murdered the same day the couple was reported missing during their honeymoon. Sonam allegedly played a key role in planning and executing the crime, working closely with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three hired killers. While Kushwaha did not physically travel to Meghalaya, he remained in constant contact with Sonam throughout the operation.
Upon reaching Indore, Sonam is believed to have stayed with Kushwaha in a flat in the Dewas Naka area. Surveillance footage and cab records have helped the police retrace her steps. Officials confirmed that the flat has been identified and will be sealed as part of the investigation.
The three contract killers also reportedly escaped to Indore, traveling by taxi from Sohra to Guwahati and then taking a train. Police believe the post-crime logistics—separate but synchronized routes—were carefully pre-planned.

On May 28, Sonam traveled to Kushwaha's hometown in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, where she was later arrested on June 9. Despite Kushwaha's claim that he backed out at the last moment, police maintain that both he and Sonam were involved in coordinating the murder and subsequent escape.
The Meghalaya and Indore police, working jointly, are now focusing on reconstructing the crime scene and collecting digital and physical evidence to ensure a swift filing of the chargesheet.
