Jaipur police arrested ‘IIT Baba’ Abhay Singh for possessing ganja after receiving reports of his suicidal social media post. Released on bail due to the small quantity, Singh also recently alleged an assault during a TV debate. Authorities may summon him for further investigation if required.

Jaipur police arrested ‘IIT Baba’ Abhay Singh on Monday after finding a small quantity of ganja in his possession. The arrest took place at a hotel following reports that Singh had posted about committing suicide on social media. However, he was later released on bail as the quantity of drugs did not warrant prolonged detention under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to Shiprapath Police Station SHO Rajendra Godara, authorities received information from Singh’s followers that he was in distress. Upon reaching his hotel, officers found him in possession of ganja, which he admitted to using. Singh, who gained prominence during the Maha Kumbh, spoke briefly to reporters, stating, “I have nothing to say about it as of now. It’s my birthday, and I want to be happy today.”
This incident comes days after Abhay Singh was involved in a scuffle during a televised debate in Noida. He alleged that a group of saffron-clad individuals entered the newsroom, misbehaved with him, and physically assaulted him with sticks. Singh staged a protest outside the local police station but later withdrew his complaint after intervention from authorities.
Videos of the altercation have been widely circulated on social media, showing Singh engaging in a heated argument before attempting to leave. The exact reason behind the confrontation remains unclear.
