India's Covid-19 Cases Increase Exponentially: Should We Gear Up for Another Pandemic-like Situation?

India has seen a significant increase
in Covid-19 cases, with 9,629 new infections reported on Wednesday, almost a
40% increase from the previous day's cases. The active cases decreased on
Tuesday to 63,380, but the death toll increased to 5,31,369 with 24 deaths.
In the last 24 hours, 9,213 people
have recovered, taking India's total recovery to 4,43,11,078, with a recovery
rate of 98.67%. The daily positivity rate was 3.52%, and the weekly positivity
rate was 5.42%.
India has conducted a total of 92.56
crore Covid-19 tests, with 1,89,087 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. The
country's Covid-19 case tally has reached 4.49 crore, with active cases making
up only 0.14% of the total infections. The percentage of deaths resulting from
the virus is 1.18%.
The nationwide vaccination drive has
seen the government distribute 220.66 crore doses of the Covid vaccine.
On Monday, India reported 7,178 new
Covid-19 infections, and the number of active cases decreased after 69 days,
standing at 65,683:
The percentage of daily positive
cases was 9.16%, while the percentage of positive cases noted weekly was 5.41%.
The number of fatalities rose to 531,345, including 16 additional deaths.
On Sunday, India reported 10,112 new
Covid-19 infections, taking the total number of active cases to 67,806:
The recovery rate of Covid-19 at a
national level stood at 98.66%, with a case fatality rate of 1.18%. The number
of people who recovered from the disease surged to 4,42,92,854, while the death
toll rose to 5,31,329, with 29 fatalities, including seven reconciled by
Kerala. The daily positivity rate was 7.03%, and the weekly positivity rate was
5.43%.
