India's Operation Sindoor targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK in response to the Pahalgam massacre. With 70 terrorists killed, the mission marked a tri-service strike using precision weapons. The government stressed restraint, while grieving families and political leaders welcomed the action as justice for the victims.

In a powerful pre-dawn retaliation to the Pahalgam terror massacre that killed 26 civilians on April 22, Indian armed forces launched a coordinated missile assault, dubbed Operation Sindoor, on nine identified terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, which began at 1:44 AM on Wednesday, involved 24 precision strikes and resulted in the elimination of over 70 terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

The targeted sites included Bahawalpur and Muridke, long considered nerve centres for anti-India terror operations. According to the Defence Ministry, the action was "focused, measured, and non-escalatory", with civilian and military Pakistani assets consciously avoided. This calculated military response came two weeks after the chilling Pahalgam attack, where men were executed in front of their families—many of whom have now expressed relief and support for the operation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who personally monitored the mission, had earlier vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. Sources reveal the operation was conducted using advanced weaponry including SCALP cruise missiles, HAMMER precision bombs, and loitering munitions. It marks the first instance since the 1971 war that all three branches of India's military—Army, Navy, and Air Force—were deployed in a joint strike on Pakistani soil.

While Pakistan condemned the strikes as an act of war, global reactions urged restraint. However, domestic sentiment within India has largely praised the action, viewing it as a turning point in India's counter-terror policy. Families of the Pahalgam victims say they now feel justice has begun to be served.
