India Witnesses Alarming Surge in Covid-19 Cases:-


India has seen a significant surge in Covid-19 cases, with the daily tally crossing 5,000 for the first time since September 22, 2022. The Spike is evident due to a sharp increase in cases in states such as Kerala, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

On Wednesday, India reported 5,335 new cases, with Kerala recording the highest number of cases at 1,912. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, and Kerala also reported six fresh Covid-19 fatalities, aside from the seven older deaths reported from Kerala. 


The seven-day average of daily cases continues to double in seven days, with India reporting 26,361 fresh cases in the past week. Officials from the union health ministry are monitoring the situation closely and have issued an advisory to the states to keep hospitals ready to deal with any emergency.


During the last seven days, Kerala has reported the highest number of cases, followed by Maharashtra and Delhi. The northern states of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have also seen a significant increase in cases. 


On Thursday, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan reported their highest single-day tallies in the current Covid-19 surge. Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya is scheduled to hold a meeting with all the health ministers of states on Friday to review the Covid-19 situation.
