An Indian Army vehicle was attacked by terrorists in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, though alert troops thwarted the assault with no casualties reported. The incident highlights escalating violence in the region, following recent attacks on soldiers and civilians, as security forces intensify efforts to counter terror threats.

In a recent surge of violence in Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian Army vehicle was targeted by terrorists in the Battal area of Akhnoor on Monday morning. Despite the sudden assault, alert soldiers quickly responded, successfully preventing any casualties and thwarting the potential attack. Following the incident, Army officials initiated a thorough search operation to track down the assailants.

This attack follows a tragic pattern of recent terror-related incidents in the region. Last week, two soldiers and two civilians lost their lives when terrorists ambushed an Army convoy in Baramulla. The convoy, carrying Rashtriya Rifles personnel and civilian porters, was en route to Nagin post in the Afrawat range when terrorists launched their assault near Gulmarg, a popular tourist destination. This incident underscored the ongoing risk faced by both security personnel and civilians in the area.

The past fortnight has seen an alarming escalation of violence, including the recent murder of a local doctor and six laborers at a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal, and the discovery of a terror hideout by the Indian Army’s Romeo Force in Poonch. These incidents have disrupted relative stability in the region, raising concerns about security as the union territory approaches its assembly elections.

Security forces remain vigilant, conducting joint operations with local police to counter potential threats and dismantle terror cells operating in the region. Officials emphasized the commitment to protecting the region's peace and ensuring the safety of civilians amid these challenging circumstances.
