US-Taiwan Trade:-
In yet another intrusive diplomatic move, China has expressed its discontent towards the upcoming trade plans between US and Taiwan. As the island -state of Taiwan agitates for the protection of its sovereignty, the PRC continues to create an uncomfortable international environment for the country and claims territoriality over Taiwan.
The US-Taiwan Trade Deal and China’s Interference
US-Taiwan trade relations are currently seeing a positive phase. The dua has launched the US-Taiwan Initiative on 21st Century Trade under which the first trade agreement has been planned. The deal is expected to be signed and sealed during the Shangri-La Dialogue annual defense summit which will be beginning today
China has continuously and intentionally deteriorated its ties with the US as a mark of protest towards US’ sense of brotherhood towards Taiwan. China opines that the activities of the US are in violation of the historic agreement which had separated Taiwan from China. China said, “The United States should stop any form of official exchanges with Taiwan, refrain from negotiating agreements with Taiwan that have sovereign connotations or official nature and refrain from sending wrong signals to the ‘Taiwan independence’ secessionist forces.”
USA’s Defiant Stand
US and Taiwan have not tied themselves in any official diplomatic ties so far however, US-Taiwan trade deals are extensive and multi-billionaire on an annual basis. The US has not stepped back. It says, “We thank our Taiwan partners for helping us reach this important Milestone and look forward to upcoming negotiations on additional trade areas.”
