Israel resumed airstrikes in Gaza, ending a ceasefire and killing at least 235 Palestinians. Talks between Israel and Hamas collapsed over hostage negotiations. Netanyahu ordered intensified military action, citing Hamas’ refusal to release captives. The conflict has displaced 90% of Gaza’s population, worsening the humanitarian crisis.

Israel has resumed military operations in Gaza, overturning the ceasefire agreement that had paused hostilities since January. Israeli airstrikes across Gaza early Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least 235 Palestinians, including children, according to health officials. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that they targeted multiple Hamas strongholds.

The renewed violence follows weeks of stalled negotiations over a second phase of the ceasefire, which aimed to secure the release of 60 remaining hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to take "strong action" after accusing Hamas of rejecting ceasefire proposals and refusing to release hostages.

Arab mediators, backed by the U.S., had attempted to broker an agreement, but talks collapsed. Meanwhile, Gaza’s health ministry reported at least 35 separate Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Rafah, further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the besieged territory.

The conflict, which began on October 7, 2023, after Hamas’ cross-border attack killed around 1,200 people and took 250 hostages, has resulted in over 48,000 Palestinian deaths, according to local officials. More than 90% of Gaza's population has been displaced, with food and medical supplies running critically low. Netanyahu vowed to intensify military operations, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing war.
