The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, was tabled in Parliament on Thursday, leading to protests and a walkout by Opposition MPs.

The report was presented in the Lok Sabha by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal and in the Rajya Sabha by Medha Vishram Kulkarni. Opposition members alleged that their dissent notes were excluded from the final report, calling it "biased" and "one-sided." Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju denied the claim, asserting that all dissenting opinions had been included.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the removal of opposition viewpoints, terming it "anti-democratic." AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi called the bill unconstitutional, citing violations of Articles 14, 15, and 29. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the BJP had no objection to incorporating dissent notes.
