In a shocking incident that has rocked Kolkata's medical community, new details have emerged in the rape and murder case of a post-graduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The accused, a civic volunteer with no professional connection to the hospital, allegedly attempted to destroy evidence after committing the crime.

According to police sources, the accused returned home and slept for several hours after the incident, which occurred between 3 am and 6 am on Friday. Upon waking, he reportedly washed the clothes he wore during the crime in an attempt to eliminate any incriminating evidence. However, investigators managed to recover the accused's shoes, which bore telltale blood stains.

The victim's body was discovered in a seminar hall where she had gone to rest after her meal. The initial autopsy report revealed gruesome details, including bleeding from various parts of her body and multiple injuries.

City Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the hospital on Sunday, meeting with agitating junior doctors. "We had a fruitful meeting with the students, and we think they are satisfied," Goyal stated, addressing concerns about security measures.

In response to the tragedy, the hospital has dismissed two contractually employed security personnel for neglecting their duties. Meanwhile, doctors and nursing staff have staged protests demanding improved safety measures within the hospital premises.

The case has sparked outrage and raised questions about the security of healthcare professionals, particularly women working late-night shifts. As the investigation continues, authorities are facing mounting pressure to ensure swift justice and implement stringent safety protocols in medical institutions across the city.
