Top lawyer Harish Salve has made a significant claim, stating that wrestler Vinesh Phogat chose not to challenge the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decision that led to her disqualification from the women's 50kg freestyle final at the Paris Olympics 2024. This statement contradicts Vinesh Phogat's earlier claims, where she accused the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) of not supporting her legal battle and suggested that her lawyers did not push hard enough for her case.

Salve, who represented Phogat on behalf of the IOA, revealed in an interview with TimesNow that while he offered to continue the fight by appealing to the Swiss court, Phogat's legal team did not wish to pursue the case any further. Despite efforts made in the international court, Phogat was disqualified for being 100 grams overweight and returned without a medal.
