A British Columbia court has issued mandatory detention orders for four Indian nationals accused in the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Karan Brar, Kamalpreet Singh, Karanpreet Singh, and Amandeep Singh are charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Despite online reports claiming their release, the accused remain in custody at holding facilities, with no bail hearings scheduled.

Nijjar was shot dead on June 18, 2023, in Surrey, British Columbia. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau later claimed there were credible allegations connecting Indian agents to the murder, which India denied. The four men were arrested in connection with the killing, and Amandeep Singh faced additional charges, including firearms possession.
