Messi guides Argentina to Copa America final stage after beating Canada

Argentina reached the Copa America final with a 2-0 win over Canada, led by Lionel Messi's goal. Julian Alvarez opened the scoring. It's Argentina's sixth final in eight editions. The match may be Messi and Di Maria's last for Argentina.

Playing in a professional manner, the Argentina team reached the Copa America Final after a 2-0 against the Canadian team. The victory was achieved in a way largely due to the efforts of Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi, who remains as active and productive as ever at 37 years old.
Man City’s Julian Alvarez, who also plays for Argentina , the World Cup holders started the goal scoring frenzy in the match. The young forward was picking up a pass from Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo de Paul to beat the opposition’s goalkeeper from within the eighteen-yard box.
Messi then made it 2-0 for Argentina six minutes into the second half as the ball came off a Chelsea player Enzo Fernandez and went pass Canadian goalie Maxime Crepeau. It was another goal which ensured Argentina to dominate the match and it demonstrated Messi’s impact even in the later stage of the match.
To Argentina, this is the sixth final appearance in the Copa America in the last eight editions thus further putting into perspective the Argentinian’s domination of the South American region.
The final game will be particularly significant as it will be the last international game of the Argentina national team by Angel Di Maria. Points were also raised regarding Messi’s future in the national team which gave the occasion a somewhat sentimental touch.
The joyous Messi after the match added, “Let’s enjoy what we are living as a national team, as a group. It’s not easy being in a final once more, fighting once more to be champions”.
Nevertheless, the expectations of the Canadian team in the first Copa America match were met and even beyond. Jesse Marsch, head coach of the team, noted that his team’s efforts before, during, and after the tournament and the development of more players in the coming years is crucial for Canada’s success.

The Copa America final is scheduled for Monday, July 15, at 01:00 BST, where Argentina will be looking to capture yet another trophy to their trove of victories.
