A Mumbai couple faces charges after the husband, an Audi owner, violently assaulted an Ola driver following a minor collision. The incident, captured on CCTV, shows the man slamming the driver to the ground, causing head injuries. Police are investigating, and the case has sparked public outrage over road rage.
A recent case of road aggression in Mumbai involved an Audi driver who beat up an Ola cab driver after a minor car bumping incident. The incident took place on August 18 near Ghatkopar and was recorded on a CCTV camera; the video has since circulated on social networks and caused outrage due to the excessive use of force in relation to a traffic violation.
As per the police records, the accident started when Rishabh Chakraborty, a 35-year-old journalist, hit the back of an Ola cab driven by 24-year-old Qayamuddin Ansari. The incident began as a simple car accident when Chakraborty and his wife, Antara Ghosh, reportedly started to verbally attack Ansari.
The incident escalated to physical confrontation when Ansari chased the couple after they reportedly ejected his Ola cab gadget. In one of the videos, Chakraborty was seen slapping Ansari at the entrance of a building opposite a mall in Ghatkopar before lifting him up and throwing him headfirst on the ground.
Ansari received head injuries from the assault and was first rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar and then to JJ Hospital.
The Mumbai Police have filed a complaint against Chakraborty and Ghosh as per the complaint lodged by Ansari. The couple has been served with a notice to appear in court and police are probing the allegations of the two people involved in the case.
